yeah that's an unintended consequence of the way you move, I noticed it too ๐ I'm going to make it so all the enemies move towards you much faster so you'll never have to do that!
I absolutely love the clean but simple visuals of this one, you did amazing considering you only used shapes for art. Also massive fan of the menu animations!
The recoil mechanic was satisfying and cool at first, but it started being quite annoying to constantly be drifting away from all the enemies and having to waste my ammo just to get back to them.
I feel like if you want to continue with the shoot to move mechanic, an easy fix to this would be to make the enemies move at you at a much faster rate, so instead of the annoyance of moving back and forth the recoil would instead work as a defensive measure to keep your distance.
Anyways it was really nice for a game jam game, excited to see what you make for boss rush jam :D
Thank you! ๐คฉ yeah I completely agree about the recoil, I think you're right about making them move more quickly towards you. I might also give them a teleport ability if they get too far away for too long. There are a few little things I think I can do to improve that.

Level up screen is a bit intrusive and happens too often imo. I took the extra exp option second last, and I still leveled up far too fast. It was also very easy to escape the enemy cluster, to the point that at the end of the game, I wasn't sure if I had killed them all, or if I was just lost.
Fun idea with recoil based movement though! I think that having enemies spawn globally, and a bit off screen from the player would make the experience a bit better.
Thanks! Yeah I'm considering dropping the level up screen, not sure I'll have the time before the end of the jam to do enough content to make it worth it, nor do I think I have enough time to balance it properly ๐
If there are any enemies off screen they'll actually move towards you, so you probably did beat them all. I'm currently working on some more varied enemies and spawning, this was just a little test level to make sure everything works together - thanks for the feedback ๐

I liked the game feel its juice, but it would be nice if the enemy attacks had some anticipation like some sinaling whem it would charge toward u
The visuals are really nice and music is fitting.
The gameplay is fun but I have an issue where I shoot so much and the enemies take so long to get to me that i just shoot myself there

I've adjusted the level curves and added a bunch more enemies! In theory you should never be wondering whether you've killed them all now.
i don't understant the game (cause we can only shoot and have no enemies) but the shoot mechanic with the recoil is Good
